THE FUTURE IS YOURS

Endless possibilities for deaf & hard of hearing students — and their families

At The Learning Center For The Deaf (TLC), students thrive when communication barriers and other limitations are removed, and a warm, bilingual, bicultural community is introduced. Between our community-based programs, and expertly designed Marie Philip and Walden Schools, students are empowered to lead the way in shaping their futures with intention and possibility.

Our core values of communication, inclusivity, innovation, quality, and collaboration guide us in creating an environment where every student can thrive along the pathways they carve for themselves. These principles shape every aspect of our work, from the cutting-edge education at Marie Philip School to the individualized and trauma-informed care and education at Walden School.

TLC is, at its core, a partner to each student, their families, and communities that surround them in ensuring their full potential is met—then exceeded.

MARIE PHILIP SCHOOL

Marie Philip School (MPS) transforms the educational experience for deaf and hard of hearing students, from infants to Pre-K to high school seniors, in a dynamic, bilingual environment. Located on TLC's Framingham campus, MPS offers a groundbreaking ASL/English bilingual-bicultural model that equips students with the tools to build literacy in both languages, while fostering academic success and personal growth.

With innovative initiatives found in the Early Childhood Center and accredited elementary and secondary school curriculums, MPS provides a comprehensive education tailored to each student’s needs, preparing them for college, careers, and life beyond the classroom.

An MPS education is complemented by comprehensive support services from residential living options for middle and high schoolers to speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, specialized ASL instruction, and more — all under the TLC umbrella. Whether a student is developing foundational skills in ASL, or excelling in advanced academics, MPS is here to guide them every step of the way.

Together, we create opportunities for students to reach their full potential while building the confidence and skills needed to design the future of their choice.

In high school, I was a commuting athlete for two years. Balancing a long commute with sports, late nights of homework, and early mornings left me exhausted. I decided to become a residential student for the last two years. Living on campus gave me the focus I needed to excel academically and the time to develop skills that have shaped my life ever since.

Being surrounded by Deaf peers and mentors was transformative. At TLC, I blossomed—gaining confidence in my sign language skills, forming lasting social connections, and embracing my Deaf identity. Here, I am truly seen, supported, and empowered.

If it were not for the enthusiastic influence and encouragement that Avery received from their teacher at TLC, Avery would not be where they are today as a thriving student. TLC is where deaf and hard of hearing children are able to thrive!
